As I think back over my adventures and developing fascination with Asian beauty products (and Korean cosmetics in particular), I realized that my initial curiosity and interest began after learning about sheet masks! At first I thought they looked a bit unnecessary- surely they couldn’t do anything so beneficial as to warrant wearing a wet sheet on your face for 20 minutes and then simply throwing it away- however, I was severely uninformed!
I gave them a try out of curiosity, and after the very first sheet mask I became a fervent convert, dedicated to wearing a sheet mask as often and as long as possible! The results from sheet masking are incredible as they deliver a super-charged boost of moisture and soothing in a short time. Over a period of use, they also improve the skin’s appearance, texture, and moisture levels.
Dermal Korea’s set of Collagen Essence Sheet Masks hold a special place in my heart, both because they were the very first masks I ever tried and because they continue to prove their worth with each usage!
About Dermal Korea
About the Product
This particular set of sheet masks contains 16 different variants themed around fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers- all aimed to deliver moisture, soothing, and hydration to your facial skin. As the name suggests, collagen is present in each mask to replenish needed moisture and balance the skin’s moisture barrier, especially necessary in aging or damaged (irritated, sunburned or acne-prone) skin.
This particular set includes the variants Olive, Bamboo, Milk, Bee Venom, Acerola, Red Ginseng, Strawberry, Apricot, Wine, Cherry Blossoms, Pomegranate, Honey Grapefruit, Rose, Grape, Acai Berry, and Aqua.
Where I Purchased It
As stated previously, Dermal Korea’s products are not widely available to consumers outside of East Asia, but thanks to the wide global market on Amazon, their sheet mask sets are easily purchased and delivered to your door within days! I went with this option and enjoyed my masks only two days after ordering them.
The packaging is professional and attractive, featuring a photo of the star ingredient on a matching foil packet, complete ingredient lists, and both Korean and English instructions- very helpful for those (like me!) who do not read Hangul.
The packets are a bit smaller than other typical sheet masks, but I actually prefer this as it saves storage space while also slightly minimizing packaging waste.
A packet easily opens thanks to handy precut tabs and reveals a thoroughly wet sheet mask made of a thick cotton material which tends to hold more essence than thinner sheet masks.
The shape is typical and will fit some users better than others due to the wide range of face shapes and sizes people possess. Personally, I found the fit to be a bit wide (extending onto my hairline on the sides of my face) and a bit short (not covering my entire forehead), but my particular face shape is pretty oblong, so no surprises there!
The eye area is not completely cut out– if desired you can fold over the eye “flap” to cover your closed eyelids and get even more essence onto your skin. This is the first brand of sheet masks that I have discovered to do this and it’s quite a nice feature for the times when I simply want to lay down in total peace and relax with a sheet mask. Of course, when there’s simply too much to do to, I fold the flaps under and can open my eyes and function without any difficulties.
How To Use Dermal Korea Collagen Essence Mask Pack Set
Suggested use is 2 to 3 times a week, though I find that my skin appreciates even more regular usage (after a week of sheet masking every day my skin has never been so soft and hydrated!). Individual experience will give you the best idea of how often your skin needs an extra boost of vitamins and soothing.
It is recommended to squeeze the package a couple of times to ensure that the essence is distributed evenly throughout the sheet mask before opening the packet. After opening, simply unfold the sheet mask and apply as evenly and smoothly as possible to a freshly cleansed and toned face. Wear for 15-20 minutes, or until it just begins to feel a bit less wet. Remove and pat in excess essence.
The Dermal Korea sheet masks are still typically wet enough that after about 20 minutes (depending on the climate of the room I am in!) I can rub them onto my neck, décolletage, and arms to get every last drop of essence goodness out of the masks. There is also quite a lot of essence left in the packets which I save to use for my next routine, making them even more economical.
Dermal Korea Collagen Essence Mask Pack Set Ingredients
Ingredients are where sheet masks really shine, and in examining the ingredient lists for these masks, the contents are pretty impressive. The typical list is short, containing
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Special Ingredient Extract (rose water for the rose sheet mask, strawberry essence for the strawberry sheet mask, etc.), Hydrolyzed Collagen, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Portulaca Aleracea Extract, Beta-glucan, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polysorbate 80, Disodium Edta, Xanthan Gum, Methylparaben, Fragrance
I was especially pleased to see that the advertised ingredients are present so high on the list, which means that they make up a good percentage of the content. The addition of both collagen and Aloe Vera juice, known skin soothers and restoratives, are also ingredients I was pleased to find.
